MBS Coaching | Business Coaching & Decision Support for Business Owners

MBS Coaching

You don't have to run your business alone.

A clear plan. Someone to challenge your thinking. Better decisions. Real accountability.

Running an established business gets harder as there's more to lose. The decisions get bigger, the team grows, the pressure builds — and there are often fewer people you can genuinely talk it through with. MBS Coaching gives you an experienced person alongside you.

Recognise this?

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • The business feels hectic, but progress feels slow.
  • You keep jumping from one priority to another.
  • Every major decision seems to land with you.
  • Your team is good, but there's no one senior around to challenge your thinking.
  • There are several directors, but meetings don't always produce clear decisions.
  • You're working hard but still feel overworked and under-rewarded.
  • You know the business could be better — you're just not sure what to focus on first.

How we help

What MBS Coaching actually does

No complicated methodology. Three straightforward questions, worked through at the right rhythm.

  1. Strategic Planning

    "Where are we going?"

Working out what you actually want from the business, and what it needs to look like to give you that.

  2. Quarterly Accountability

"Are we doing what we said we'd do?"

Reviewing progress, checking the evidence, and agreeing the next 90 days of priorities.

  3. Monthly Decision Support

"What decisions do we need to make?"

Working through the important decisions, challenges and opportunities that come with running a business.

Ongoing support

Two different types of support

Both start with Strategic Planning. From there, the right support depends on the problem you're trying to solve.

Quarterly Accountability

£150 / month

"I just never seem to make consistent progress."

Quarterly Accountability exists to keep you moving. Every quarter, we pause, look back honestly at what actually got done, check the evidence, and agree a small number of priorities — Rocks — for the next 90 days. Urgent work has a habit of beating important work. This is what stops that happening quarter after quarter.

  • A quarterly review of what moved the business forward, and what didn't
  • An honest look at the evidence that matters to your business — progress, performance, capacity, workload and whatever measures genuinely tell us whether things are moving in the right direction
  • A small number of agreed priorities, owners and deadlines for the next 90 days

MBS Coaching doesn't produce or verify your accounting information as part of this — we work with whatever evidence you already have.

Monthly Decision Support

£450 / month

"I feel alone when the important decisions arrive."

Monthly Decision Support exists to help you decide where to move. Recruitment, pricing, investment, a difficult people decision, a possible sale — the moments where the consequences matter and you don't want to decide on gut feel alone. Every month, we work through the decisions actually facing the business: the evidence, the assumptions, the realistic options, and what happens if you do nothing.

  • A monthly 90-minute decision meeting, built around the biggest decisions facing you right now
  • Evidence-led challenge — not opinions, and not a management accounts meeting
  • A Decision Confidence Planner for working through significant decisions with a repeatable approach
  • Access to short Decision Calls for significant decisions that can't sensibly wait until the next meeting, using the Decision Confidence Planner first
  • Support for aligning multiple directors around a decision, where relevant

More than one person around the table? Not every business is run by one owner. When several directors are involved, the challenge can look different — competing opinions, unresolved issues, meetings that drift, and difficult conversations that never quite happen. MBS can provide independent challenge and facilitate the conversation, helping leadership teams get aligned, make deliberate decisions and leave knowing what happens next.

Why MBS

Coaching backed by financial evidence.

We're not here simply to motivate you. Our team has a genuine financial background — accounts, cash, margin, forecasting — and we use that to help you think more clearly, not to act as your finance director.

  • What does the evidence say?
  • What are we assuming?
  • What happens if we do nothing?
  • What aren't we seeing?

Better businesses aren't built by perfect decisions. They're built by informed ones.

Real decisions

Real decisions. Real consequences.

A few examples of the kind of thinking these conversations lead to.

The question that changed the target

A client was planning an intake of 16 customers — the number that had always felt safe. When asked why not 17, the answer was obvious once someone actually asked the question. The financial difference between repeatedly targeting 16 instead of 17 came to roughly £39,000 a year.

The right question at the right time can change a decision materially.

Walking away from a lower offer

A business owner was negotiating a sale when the buyer cut their offer from around £2.5m to £1.6m, for reasons the owner didn't believe were justified. Working through the consequences of walking away gave them the confidence to do it. About six months later, they sold the business for £3.3m.

Not a guaranteed outcome — an example of thinking clearly when the money and the emotion were both real.

Spotting the opportunity already there

A client had excess leads they weren't monetising. Working through the opportunity properly led to a new mortgage brokerage, now turning over around £1m with roughly £200k annual profit.

Sometimes the opportunity is already sitting there — it just needs someone to help you see it.

These examples are based on real client experiences. Some details may be simplified to protect confidentiality. Outcomes vary, and past results don't guarantee future ones. MBS Coaching helps owners think more clearly and make better decisions — it does not guarantee a particular financial result.

Free, monthly, online

Bring a problem. Take a seat at the table.

Got a business problem you could use another perspective on? Once a month, a small group of established business owners get together online — everyone brings a real problem, and everyone gets help with theirs.

OnlineWherever you are
  • Everyone brings a real business problem or challenge
  • We work around the table, asking questions before jumping to advice
  • Members share relevant experience and perspectives
  • Ian and Georgia add their perspective, having heard the wider discussion

So each owner gets focused time on the thing that's currently occupying their thinking. There's no presentation and no sales pitch — just business owners helping business owners look at a problem differently.

How we work together

We'll ask the difficult questions. You'll make the decision.

MBS Coaching doesn't run your business for you. The relationship works because the roles are clear.

The coach

  • Asks questions
  • Challenges assumptions
  • Presents the evidence
  • Brings perspective and experience
  • Highlights blind spots
  • Holds you accountable

The owner

  • Makes the decision
  • Owns the action
  • Owns the outcome

It's your business. We're just not going to let you work it out entirely alone.
