Success Factor Modelling – Building Organisational Success
It has been observed that there is an often unexplainable difference between the performance of both individuals and teams across an organisation that are essentially delivering the same or similar service.
The questions that are often asked are “Why are they not performing the same as …?”, i.e. the focus is on the poor performer with untold and time and energy being thrown at the “problem area”.
This approach more often than not leads to conflict and a blame culture which delivers little other than, low morale and staff attrition leading to even poorer performance.
Discovering how the best teams and individuals delver high performance and quality and modelling their strategies is a much better approach and it leads to useful information that can inform and improve training, recruitment and the culture of the organisation leading to overall improvement in business performance:
The Success Factor Modelling (SFM) process is a unique approach to competency building, originally developed by the Dilts Strategy Group, then developed by a large research group* via seminars, workshops and practical application in a wide range of contexts.
The SFM process was designed in the first instance to identify and apply the critical success factors necessary to promote growth and development of emerging technology companies, however its tools, and concepts were soon applied to a much wider range of business sectors including:
Fiat, IBM, Hewlett Packard, World Bank, American Express, The State Railway of Italy, Apple Computer, Xerox, Merrill Lynch, Mercedes Benz, BMW, and many others.
The SFM process was conceived and based upon a set of principles and characteristics which are uniquely suited to analyse and identify crucial patterns of values, behaviour and interrelationships at the root of successful individuals, teams and companies. These patterns can then betransferred to new companies, increasing their chances for similar success.
Drawing primarily from the behavioural science of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, the SFM process is founded upon a set of fundamental linguistic, cognitive and behavioural patterns and distinctions.
SFM Research Process
The primary approach of the SFM Modelling process is to model effective and successful behaviours and the cognitive strategies that drive them. The results of this analysis are then formalised into step-by-step procedures or techniques that may be utilized to transfer successful skills and characteristics to other key groups of employees and business units.
