What is Executive Coaching?

Just like any other form of coaching, Executive Coaching is a two-way conversation, the goal of which is to unlock potential and create a new future.  Coaching enables clients to generate a sense of clarity, perspective and purpose so that they can move on with a new sense of confidence.

Coaching focuses on where you are now and what you are willing to do to get to where you want to be in the future.

Executive Coaching generally focuses on outcomes connected with your business or professional life. Typically, executive coaching may touch on all or some of the following:

  • Leadership
  • Generating new ideas
  • Decision making
  • Clear communication
  • Time management
  • Learning from past mistakes
  • Giving and receiving feedback
  • Problem solving
  • Setting well-formed objectives (self and others)
  • Improving working relationships
  • Managing (up or down)

  • Behavioural skills – eg. Presentation skills, managing meetings

One of our favourite definitions of the role of the coach is from Thomas Leonard, one of the founders of the International Coaching Federation, who said coaches…


“Help people set better goals and then reach those goals. Ask their clients to do more than they would have done on their own. Help their client to focus better so as to produce results more quickly. Provide clients with the tools, support and structure to accomplish.”


Coaching and NLP
